This is the tail of Baldron painted. (504 spikes) My approach to this entire project has been one of the biggest learning experiences I have had with any project. I realized that best, easiest, and safest way for me to do these complex, detailed, fragile details (like the spikes) was to separate it from the sculpture completely. This isn't the first time I have done this with Baldron. The claws are some of the other parts that I have done separately and of coarse the staff.

When the idea first made it's announcement in my mind. I was hmming. Though I knew for a fact that as fragile these little spikes are, I would end up breaking more of them then putting them on. Which I really dislike going back in production. 

I took the tail, hung it from my ceiling and applied all the approximate 504 spikes. 

Total amount of time invested in this tail alone from start to finish? 3 weeks. Yes, that alone is what most artists put into a single little project.
